Manganese dioxide is a black or dark brown crystals or amorphous powder.
Insoluble in water and nitric acid, releases oxygen in hot concentrated
sulfuric acid and produce manganese sulfate, releases chlorine in the
hydrochloric acid, generated manganese chloride.
With caustic alkali and
oxidants permanganate eutectic formation is strong oxidizer.
Currently,
there are five kinds of crystal form in manganese dioxide; the most
valuable of them are γ-and β-type.
