Lds-100K-EMA Diesel locomotive for underground applications

is designed for transport activities in underground workings

of mines, where a coal dust and/or a methane explosion

hazard occur.

A low-toxicity, compression-ignition with

turbo-forced induction engine, made by Volvo Penta, equipped

with an explosion-proof inlet-outlet system with a water

washer of exhaust gas is installed in the locomotive drive

system.

This engine, via a hydrokinetic gear and reversion

gear of SB 102 type, drives the front and back intersecting

axis gears.

Main shafts of these gears are simultaneously

axles of wheel sets.

Lds-100K-EMA locomotive is equipped

with an operational brake with a hydraulic drive and

hydraulically released emergency and parking brake.

Motor speed, braking, driving directions and switching on of

sanders control is performed electro-hydraulically.

The

engine start-up is executed hydraulically.

The locomotive

has two control panels of equivalent positioning of control

equipment.

It is equipped with an electronic system for

supervision of operational parameters, switching the engine

off when the pressure of oil lubricating the engine or the

braking systems decreases, and when the temperature of the

engine cooling liquid, exhaust gas or oil in the hydraulic

system is exceeded.

Apart from the central, self-operating

fire-extinguishing installation, each cabin is equipped with

a portable dry-chemical or carbon-dioxide extinguisher.
