Fryman, Data Architect in the Healthcare Practice of Edgewater
Technology Inc., will be the speaker at this 60-minute webinar.
This webinar is about the importance and nature of a Business Glossary for enterprise.
Organizations of all sizes are challenged in the communications that occur within the organization. One of the most common reasons for bad implementation of enterprise level data management is the lack of clarity of the terminology. The solution to this problem is in coming up with a business glossary that clearly and unambiguously defines each business entity.
A business glossary can connect workers across the enterprise to critical business information they can trust, helping to eliminate the misunderstandings that cause lost time, lost opportunities and lost revenue. It can be described as a data management application containing business terms and definitions and used by business people to get their jobs done.
Perhaps nothing drives home the importance of a business glossary more than these revealing figures arrived at in a study conducted with more than 1, 000 middle managers:
o Middle managers spend more than 25 percent of their time searching for information necessary to do their jobs
o More than 50 percent of the information they obtain has no value to their original search request
o 42 percent of respondents said they accidentally use the wrong information at least once a week
o 53 percent said that less than half of the information they receive is Valuable
o 59 percent said that as a consequence of poor information distribution, they miss internal company information that might be valuable to their job
o 36 percent said there is so much information available that it takes a long time to actually find the right piece of data
This webinar will help participants with ways of creating a business glossary. Participants will have learnt the following at the end of this session:
o What are the business and IT challenges that a business glossary can help solve
o How to position the benefits of a business glossary to get the effort budgeted
