11kv Polymer Housed Surge Arrester - China

The 11kV Polymer Housed Surge Arrester is designed to protect medium-voltage distribution systems and electrical equipment against transient overvoltages caused by lightning and switching events.

Using gapless zinc oxide metal oxide varistor (MOV) elements and a polymer outer housing, the arrester provides fast overvoltage limitation while maintaining very low leakage current under normal operating conditions.

ZheXi offers 11kV polymer surge arresters for overhead distribution lines, pole-mounted transformers, substations and other medium-voltage applications, with 5kA and 10kA configurations available according to project requirements.

Polymer Housing and Zinc Oxide MOV Design

The 11kV arrester uses nonlinear zinc oxide metal-oxide resistor elements as its main protective component.

During normal system operation, the MOV elements remain highly resistive.

When a transient overvoltage occurs, their resistance decreases rapidly, allowing surge current to discharge while limiting the voltage across the protected equipment.

The polymer housing provides an outdoor insulation structure suitable for distribution-line applications and offers a lightweight alternative to conventional porcelain-housed designs.
