The Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) is a type of anaerobic reactor specifically designed to enhance the interaction between biomass and waste, thereby improving digestion efficiency.

As one of the earliest digester designs, the CSTR stands out for its versatility, accommodating various types of waste with ease.

Its robust adaptability ensures that even highly concentrated waste can be processed effectively.

With dual operational modes and multiple biogas retention systems, the CSTR remains a highly flexible and reliable solution.



In operation, the wastewater or a mixture of sludge and wastewater is introduced at the reactor's base and exits at the top, while an internal recycle loop facilitates the flow of reactor contents from the opposite side of the inlet.

Efficient mixing is achieved using a top-entry, multi-stage agitator, ensuring continuous contact between the influent and biomass for optimal mass transfer and the conversion of organic material (COD) into biogas.

Depending on specific requirements, alternative mixing systems, such as side-entry or jet mixers, can also be employed to achieve similar efficiency.
