How This Rotary Diameter Gauge Works: Laser Scanning Principle

The GDC-J2200-JX rotary diameter gauge uses the laser scanning diameter gauge method — a rotating head continuously sweeps laser beams around the bar's full cross-section.

Unlike fixed instruments, this rotating diameter measuring instrument eliminates blind spots entirely, making it the most reliable solution for online steel bar measurement in high-temperature rolling environments.

1 - Laser beam projection

High-frequency laser beams are projected across the bar's cross-section as the measurement head rotates continuously around the pass line.

2 - Photoelectric scanning & triangulation

Precision photoelectric receivers capture the shadow width at each rotational angle.

Triangulation algorithms calculate exact dimensional coordinates.

3 - Real-time data transmission

Measurement results are transmitted to the display terminal via single-mode fiber optics.

Alarms trigger instantly when any dimension exceeds tolerance.

4 - Full ovality calculation

With 360° data, the system calculates diameter, ovality, and profile deviation simultaneously — not possible with fixed-angle gauges.
