Industrial Al-Mg alloys have the same corrosion resistance as high-purity aluminum; elements that lower the potential, even those with reduced corrosion resistance, are impurities with very little content, and the influence on corrosion resistance is negligible, so aluminum - Magnesium alloys have excellent corrosion resistance in the following conditions: for ordinary atmosphere, water, steam, sea water, marine climate, and many chemical products.

Analysis of corrosion products containing 5% Mg alloy revealed mainly Al2O3 with a small amount of Mg.

Industrial Al-Mg alloys also have intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking sensitivity, but are closely related to the structure.

Therefore, the sensitivity after aging at 127 ° C ~ 225 ° C for aging or stress relief annealing is comparable to that when exposed to tropical climatic conditions or long-term storage at room temperature, stabilized at 127 ° C ~ 177 ° C for 24 h or at 225 The sensitivity to these two corrosions can be eliminated by treating at °C~275°C for 10min~20min.

Cu and Ni promote pitting corrosion of 5 series alloys.

Fe and Si also have the same effect, but the effect is much smaller; Zn, Sb, Ti, V have little or no effect; Mn, Cr, Zr can reduce pitting; Cr Mn can greatly improve the resistance of Al-Mg alloy to intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking; Zr, Mo, Si, Cu, Be, Sb, Zn, etc.
