Cr5Mo1V tool steel is a high-carbon, medium-chromium, low-deformation, air-quenchable cold work die steel and alloy tool steel.

Performance Characteristics Mechanical Properties: After quenching, Cr5Mo1V tool steel achieves a hardness of 60-65 HRC, tensile strength ≥2300 MPa, yield strength ≥1700 MPa, elongation ≥8%, and impact toughness superior to Cr12 series steels, while also offering high wear resistance and fatigue resistance.

Heat Treatment Characteristics: The annealing temperature for Cr5Mo1V tool steel is 820-860℃.

The quenching temperature is 940-960℃, using air cooling or oil cooling, avoiding temperatures exceeding 950℃ to prevent grain coarsening.

Tempering can be performed at low temperature (180-220℃) to achieve a hardness of 60-64 HRC, suitable for high wear-resistant applications; or at high temperature (510-520℃) to achieve a hardness of 57-60 HRC, improving toughness and suitable for impact applications.

Applications: Widely used in blanking dies and forming dies, rolls, punches, calendering dies, and thread rolling dies; also used in certain types of shear blades.

It can also replace CrWMn and 9Mn2V steel in the manufacture of medium and small cold stamping dies.
