Chemical composition builds the foundation of performance

The chemical composition of JIS SNCM220 alloy steel is carefully formulated, and each element performs its own function.

The carbon (C) content is 0.17-0.23%, which provides basic strength; Silicon (Si) is in the range of 0.15-0.40%, which helps to improve the strength and hardness of steel; Manganese (Mn) content is 0.60-0.90%, which enhances the hardenability and strength of steel, and can also combine with sulfur to reduce the effect of hot brittleness.

Phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) are strictly controlled at ≤0.030% to reduce the interference of impurities on performance.

The chromium (Cr) content of 0.35 - 0.65% not only improves hardenability, but also enhances wear resistance and corrosion resistance; The addition of nickel (Ni) of 0.40 - 0.70% greatly improves the toughness and hardenability of steel, allowing the steel to maintain good performance even in low temperature environments; The molybdenum (Mo) content of 0.15 - 0.30% further improves hardenability, prevents temper brittleness, and improves high-temperature strength.
