1.2312 Steel

1.2312 steel uses Cr-Mn-Mo as strengthening alloy elements and adds a higher content of sulfur (0.05-0.1%) to make it more machinable.

It is expected that the milling speed can be increased by 30% and the drilling speed can be increased by 300%.

1.2312 steel has excellent cutting performance, good toughness and wear resistance, stable dimensions after processing, and uniform hardness.

DIN 1.2312 is generally supplied in a pre-hardened state with a hardness of 280-320HB.

ASTM P20+S steel is equivalent to DIN 1.2312 material.

Generally, 40CrMnMoS8-6/1.2312 and P20+S mold steel will have the same properties for final application.
