aisi 410 steel is one of the most commonly used martensitic stainless steels.

it contains about 12% cr and therefore has moderate corrosion resistance.

unlike austenites such as aisi 304 and aisi 316, aisi 410 steel martensite is magnetic and can be hardened by heat treatment like carbon and low alloy steels.

aisi 410 steel has good mechanical properties such as tensile strength, creep strength and fatigue strength, and is mainly used in steam turbines, jet engines and gas turbines.

aisi 410 steel is a basic straight chromium high-hardenability stainless steel with good strength and fairly good corrosion resistance, usually quenched and tempered in the tensile range of 700 - 850 mpa (condition r) brinell hardness range 201 - 255 - characterized by good corrosion resistance in mild atmospheric industrial and domestic environments, coupled with good strength and excellent toughness in quenched and tempered conditions.

due to its excellent hardenability, aisi 410 steel can be fully hardened to above rc40 depending on carbon content and cross-section size.
