- 600-650°C, soak 2 hours, slow cool

- Preheat: step at 650-700°C, equalize, then 800-850°C

- Austenitize: 1020-1060°C (typical 1030°C), soak approx.

- Quench: vacuum furnace with high-pressure gas (preferred) or oil 3 - Tempering - the decisive step

- Temper immediately while part reaches 60-80°C

- First temper: 550-570°C for 2-3 hours
