Vacuum furnace heat treatment is the industry-preferred method to minimize decarburization and control distortion; mandatory double tempering is crucial for ensuring toughness and avoiding temper brittleness.

Standard Heat Treatment Process (Vacuum Furnace, Industrial Mass Production Standard) Hardening & Quenching Process

1) Two-stage preheating (to prevent cracking and reduce thermal stress)

- First stage: 600–650°C

- Second stage: 820–860°C

2) Austenitizing/Quenching temperature

- **Vacuum furnace: 1010 ~ 1020°C (Recommended/Preferred)**

- Salt bath furnace: 990–1000°C

✅ Soaking time: 30–40 min per 25 mm of wall thickness; minimum soaking time ≥ 25 min

3) Quenching medium

**Preferred: High-pressure gas cooling (N₂)**

Alternative: Oil quenching (limited to small, simple parts; higher risk of distortion)

As-quenched hardness: **52–56 HRC** 3 - Tempering (Critical step! Minimum of 2 tempering cycles required)

> After quenching, the workpiece must be transferred to the tempering furnace immediately upon cooling to ≤60°C; do not leave at room temperature for extended periods.
