High Performance Nf X200cr12 Steel Quenching Process - China

NF X200Cr12 steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold work die steel with properties similar to AISI D3, DIN 1.2080, and GB Cr12 - This steel is renowned for its excellent wear resistance and high hardness, and is widely used in the manufacture of cold work tools such as blanking dies, cutting tools, gauges, and wire drawing dies.

To fully utilize its material properties, precise heat treatment processes, especially quenching and tempering, are crucial.

Quenching: Quenching is a key step in achieving the high hardness of NF X200Cr12 steel.

It includes preheating, austenitizing heating, and rapid cooling.

1 - Preheating

To reduce thermal stress and prevent workpiece cracking, preheating is typically performed in stages: Stage 1: 500 - 600°C Stage 2: 800 - 850°C 2 - Hardening Temperature

The choice of hardening temperature significantly affects the final hardness and microstructure: Salt bath furnace: 950 - 980°C Controlled atmosphere furnace: 970 - 1000°C Holding time: 10 - 20 minutes 3 - Quenching Medium

The choice of quenching medium depends on the workpiece size and the required cooling rate: Preferred medium: Oil cooling (oil temperature 50-80°C) Optional medium: Air cooling (suitable for small cross-section workpieces) 4 - As-quenched Hardness

After quenching, the hardness of NF X200Cr12 steel typically reaches 63 - 65 HRC.
