1.2714 steel (also known as 55NiCrMoV7 or AISI L6) is a German standard hot work die steel, known for its high hardenability, excellent wear resistance and good high temperature performance, and is widely used in forging dies, die casting dies and high-load tool manufacturing.

1.2714 steel forging process 1 - Forging temperature range - **Heating temperature**: Usually controlled at **1050-1150°C** to ensure good plasticity.

- **Final forging temperature**: It is recommended to be not less than **850°C** to avoid cracking or internal stress accumulation.

2 - Forging method - Can be **free forging** or **die forging**, depending on the die shape and size.

- Avoid excessive cooling during forging to prevent crack formation.

3 - Post-forging treatment

- **Annealing**: Keep at **850-880°C** for 1-2 hours, then slowly cool (furnace cooling or air cooling to 400°C) to eliminate forging stress and improve machinability.

- **Normalizing**: Suitable for further refining the grain structure and improving uniformity.
