High Quality Skd6 Steel Plate Spheroidizing Annealing Process - China

The primary objective of the spheroidizing annealing process for SKD6 steel plate is to eliminate internal stresses induced during forging or rolling, reduce material hardness, and transform carbides into a globular form, thereby significantly improving machinability.

**Post-Annealing Properties**

Following proper spheroidizing annealing, the SKD6 steel plate will exhibit the following properties:

Hardness Control: ** Annealed hardness should be maintained within the range of ≤229 HBW (or HBS), not exceeding a maximum of 235 HB.

Machinability: ** The globular carbide structure significantly reduces cutting resistance (by up to 40%) and extends tool life.

It also enhances material ductility, laying a solid foundation for subsequent machining and the fabrication of complex molds.

**Process Considerations**

Prevention of Oxidation and Decarburization: During the heating phase of annealing, it is recommended to use a controlled-atmosphere furnace, a salt bath furnace, or a packing method (such as embedding in waste coke) to effectively minimize surface oxidation and decarburization.

Cooling Rate Control: Avoid excessively rapid cooling during the temperature reduction phase; rapid cooling may result in incomplete stress relief, which could compromise subsequent machining precision and the service life of the mold.
