JIS SKH55 High Speed Steel is a molybdenum series high speed steel alloy, additionally containing 8% cobalt.

They improve water resistance and tool life, which improves For cutting edge performance and retention, the SKH55 composition is a good combination of toughness and hardness.

high speed steel has high tensile strength cutting parameters, the tungsten in this tool steel makes it easy to cut them, and the hardness after heat treatment is as high as 63-66HRC.

JIS SKH55 High Speed Steel Applications and Uses

Due to its high toughness and very good heat treatment stability, SKH55 high speed steel is also used in various cold work mold applications.

In these applications, SKH55 high speed steel provides better hardenability than ordinary alloy steel (such as 4140) (hardening through large section thickness) and better wear resistance.

SKH55 is mainly used to make multi-edged tools, twist drills, reamers, taps, milling cutters, broaches, hobs and forming tools, single-edged tools, cutting off turning tools and forming tools.
