UNS G41400 steel surface treatment process

1 - Heat treatment strengthening

- **Quenching & Tempering**

- Process: oil quenching/water quenching + high temperature tempering (400–650°C)

- Effect: Improve hardness (HRC 28–55) and tensile strength (up to 1000MPa), taking into account toughness.

- Applicable: high-load parts (such as shafts, gears).

- **Surface quenching (Induction Hardening)**

- Process: high-frequency induction heating surface quenching, the core maintains toughness.

- Effect: surface hardness reaches HRC 50+, wear resistance ↑, fatigue life ↑.

2 - Anti-corrosion coating

- **Chrome plating/nickel plating**

- Features: corrosion resistance + beautiful, high hardness of chrome plating (HV 800–1000).

- Application: hydraulic rods, ship parts.

- **Zinc Phosphating**

- Features: Forming a porous phosphate layer, enhancing paint adhesion + short-term rust prevention.

- Application: automotive fasteners.

3 - **Wear-resistant treatment**

- **Nitriding**

- Process: gas/ion nitriding (around 500°C).

- Effect: surface hardness HV 1000–1200, wear & fatigue resistance, small deformation.

- Application: molds, crankshafts.

- **Carbonitriding**

- Process: medium temperature carburizing + nitriding.

- Effect: surface hardening layer depth 0.1–0.5mm, both wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
