EN BS 535A99 steel is an alloy steel with high hardness properties.

Hardness Performance

- EN BS 535A99 steel is typically used after quenching and tempering.

After appropriate heat treatment, its surface hardness can reach very high levels.

For example, at a tempering temperature of 150°C, the hardness can reach 63-62 HRC.

As the tempering temperature increases, the hardness decreases, for example, at a tempering temperature of 300°C, the hardness reaches 57-56 HRC.

- This steel can be hardened by either oil or water quenching.

Components with a diameter of 1 inch can be oil quenched, while larger components can be water quenched and then tempered to achieve a very hard, wear-resistant surface exceeding 65 HRC.

Applications Demonstrating High Hardness Performance

- Due to its high hardness and excellent wear resistance, EN BS 535A99 steel is widely used in the manufacture of cutting tools, molds, and dies, maintaining excellent cutting performance and service life under high speeds and heavy loads.
