Reliable Quality Astm 5130 Steel Coil Kaiping Process - China

The unwinding process of ASTM 5130 steel coil (a chromium-molybdenum alloy structural steel containing Cr≈1% and Mo≈0.2%) needs to be optimized in combination with its material properties and final use.

Unwinding process (1) Loading and unwinding - Use a double-head unwinder or loading trolley to avoid collisions with the edges of the steel coil.

- Slowly release the coil tension (it is recommended that the initial tension is ≤5% of the yield strength) to prevent plastic deformation.

(2) Leveling - Use a multi-roller leveler (such as 17-23 rollers) and adjust the roller spacing according to the plate thickness (for example: - Thickness ≤3mm: roller spacing 50-80mm - Thickness 3-6mm: roller spacing 80-120mm).

- The straightening pressure is gradually reduced to eliminate internal stress.

(3) Cutting to length - Use hydraulic shears or laser cutting to ensure that the cut is burr-free (tolerance ±0.5mm).

- When high precision is required, use a flying shear or servo cross-cutting system.

Common Problems and Solutions

- Edge Cracks

- Cause: Stress concentration at the edge during unwinding.

- Solution: Optimize the curvature of the unwinding guide and pre-cut the edges (e.g., leave a 5mm margin).

- Plate Scratches

- Cause: Foreign matter on the roller surface or insufficient lubrication.

- Solution: Install a nylon scraper to clean the roller surface and lubricate with rust-proof oil.

By strictly controlling straightening parameters and tension, ASTM 5130 steel coil can achieve a high flatness standard of ≤0.5mm/m, meeting the requirements of applications such as automotive drive shafts and high-strength fasteners.

Full-size inspection (including flatness and diagonal deviation) is recommended for the first piece, with random inspections conducted every 20 pieces during mass production.
