40Cr steel is an ultra-high strength steel with high strength and toughness, good hardenability, no obvious temper brittleness, high fatigue limit and multiple impact resistance after quenching and tempering, and good low-temperature impact toughness.

It is generally used after quenching and tempering, and can replace quenched and tempered steel with high nickel content.

40Cr steel ultra-high strength realization process

- **Heat treatment process**:

- **Quenching**: 850~880°C oil cooling to obtain martensite structure.

- **Tempering**: Select temperature according to needs:

- 200~300°C (low temper): high hardness (50~55 HRC), but low toughness.

- 500~600°C (high temper): best comprehensive performance (strength + toughness).

- **Surface strengthening**: Carburizing, nitriding or high-frequency quenching can further improve surface hardness and wear resistance.
