Surface Treatment Din 51crv4 Steel Shot Peening Process - China

DIN 51CrV4 steel is a commonly used spring steel with excellent mechanical and processing properties.

1 - Pretreatment:

- Cleaning: Thoroughly remove impurities such as oil, dust, and rust from the surface of the DIN 51CrV4 steel workpiece.

Use organic solvents or alkaline cleaning methods to ensure a clean surface and ensure effective shot peening.

- Grinding: For workpieces with large protrusions, burrs, or uneven surfaces, grinding can be performed first to achieve a generally smooth surface, ensuring uniform impact of the shot during shot peening.

2 - Shot Selection:

- Material: Cast steel shot can be used.

Its hardness is generally 40-50 HRC, offering good toughness and excellent surface hardening for DIN 51CrV4 steel.

Cast iron shot can also be selected based on specific requirements.

Its hardness is 58-65 HRC and is suitable for applications requiring higher shot peening strength, but it is brittle and easily breakable.

- Size: Shots with a diameter of 0.8-1.5 mm are generally selected.

Smaller shot is suitable for areas requiring lower surface roughness and finer details; larger shot produces greater impact force and is suitable for applications requiring higher peening intensity.

3 - Shot Peening:

- Place the pre-treated workpiece into the shot peening equipment and start the peening process.

- During the shot peening process, closely monitor changes in the workpiece surface, such as missing shots or uneven peening, and adjust equipment parameters or workpiece positioning accordingly.
