X210cr12 Ledeburitic Steel Precise Quenching And Tempering Process - China

X210Cr12 Ledeburitic Steel = High-Carbon, High-Chromium Ledeburitic Cold-Work Tool Steel (Equivalent to AISI D3).

This material is highly prone to cracking and sensitive to carbide formation; therefore, a mandatory two-stage preheating process and a mandatory double-tempering process are required.

All procedures must be executed strictly according to the following parameters.

X210Cr12 Ledeburitic Steel: Precision Quenching Process (Two-Stage Preheating + Standard Austenitizing)

1 - Two-Stage Preheating (Essential for preventing cracks and ensuring dimensional stability)

1 - First Stage: **600–650°C**; hold for uniform heating (soaking).

2 - Second Stage: **840–860°C**; hold to ensure thorough heat penetration.

Quenching Austenitizing Temperature (Based on 2 Original Manufacturer Protocols)

High Wear Resistance / Primary Hardening (Preferred choice for precision blanking dies and high-wear molds)

- Quenching Temperature: **1000–1030°C**

- Soaking Time: **1.5–2 min/mm of effective thickness** (For a 25mm workpiece: approx.

30–50 min)

- Cooling Medium: **Hot oil quenching at 40–60°C**; small parts (≤25mm) may be vacuum air-cooled.

- Marquenching (For complex, thin-walled parts): Hold in a salt bath at 250–300°C for 10–15 min → Air cool.

- Quenched Hardness: **HRC 63–66** Tempering Process (Double Tempering is Mandatory: Eliminates retained austenite and relieves internal stress)

**Temper immediately after quenching once the part has cooled to 50–80°C**; the interval between quenching and tempering must not exceed 2 hours.

Low-Temperature Tempering (For high hardness and high wear resistance; Target: HRC 60–62)

- Temperature: **180–220°C**

- Soaking Time (Per Cycle): ≥60 min per 100mm of thickness.

- Number of Cycles: **2 tempering cycles**; allow to air cool to room temperature between cycles.

- Applications: Silicon steel punching dies, cutting edges, high-precision wear-resistant components.
