Chromium Molybdenum Alloy Material Gb 42crmo4 Steel Heat Treatment Process - China

GB 42CrMo4 steel is a common chromium-molybdenum steel, which is usually used after quenching and tempering treatment, and has high strength and high hardenability.

GB 42CrMo4 steel has better performance than 34CrMo4 steel due to its high carbon and chromium content.

42CrMo4 alloy steel has higher strength and hardenability GB 42CrMo4 steel also has high fatigue strength and good low-temperature impact toughness.

Temper brittleness is not obvious.

Heat treatment of GB 42CrMo4 steel

1 - Annealing

Heat GB 42CrMo4 steel slowly and thoroughly to 760±10℃ for annealing, furnace cool to 400℃ and air cool.

HB220-230;

Slowly cool in the furnace to a temperature of 480°;

Fully anneal the steel in air.

2 - Quenching and tempering (Q+T)

Slowly heat GB 42CrMo4 steel to 880°C;

Soak at this temperature and then quench in oil;

Temper GB 42CrMo4 steel as soon as it reaches room temperature (20°C);

Evenly heat to a suitable temperature of 560°C;

Take the material out of the furnace and cool it in air.

3 - Normalizing

Normalizing at 860±10℃, air cooling after leaving the furnace.

4 - Softening annealing specification

Annealing temperature of GB 42CrMo4 steel is 680~700°C, slow cooling in the furnace, hardness ≤217HBW.

Quenching and tempering specifications

Quenching temperature is 830~860°C, oil cooling or 180~220°C salt bath cooling, hardness 52HRC, strength 1780MPa.

Tempering temperature 100°C/200°C/300°C, hardness 50HRC/49HRC/46HRC ● Delivery status: delivered in heat-treated (normalizing, annealing or high-temperature tempering) or non-heat-treated state, the delivery status should be indicated in the contract.
