Post-casting treatment Annealing treatment:

Eliminate the casting stress of SCM440 alloy steel and improve the cutting performance.

The process is: keep warm at 840-860℃ and then cool with the furnace to below 500℃ and air cool.

Quenching and tempering treatment (final heat treatment):

Quenching: oil cooling at 850-880℃ to obtain martensite structure;

Tempering: tempering at 550-650℃ (adjust the temperature according to performance requirements) to obtain tempered troostite and improve the comprehensive mechanical properties The performance of SCM440 alloy steel depends on precise heat treatment control.

The preparatory heat treatment adopts the normalizing process, heating to 850-880℃ and then air cooling to obtain a uniform fine pearlite structure.

The key quenching process needs to be oil cooled at 830-860℃, combined with tempering at 500-550℃ to form the best strength and toughness combination.

Particularly worth mentioning is the bainite isothermal quenching process.

Hitachi Construction Machinery's practice shows that SCM440 alloy steel treated isothermally in a salt bath at 280-320℃ can obtain more than 30% bainite structure, improve impact toughness by 40%, and improve wear resistance by 25%.

This process is particularly suitable for manufacturing wear-resistant parts of mining machinery and performs well under harsh working conditions.
