SKH51 Tool Strip – Precision Flat Stock For Saw Backs, Cutting Edges And Slitting Tools SKH51 tool strip is the flat-format workhorse of the high speed steel family (equal to AISI M2, DIN 1.3343 and GB W6Mo5Cr4V2).

It is the standard starting material for band saw backs, circular saw segments, slitting knives, paper and plastic converting blades, and thousands of cutting-edge details that must stay sharp under continuous, high-temperature load.

Standard SKH51 tool strip dimensions we roll and stock:

- Thickness: 1.0 – 60mm

- Width: 10 – 250mm

- Delivery condition: hot rolled + annealed, hardness HB 255 max for easy punching and machining

- Edge condition: mill edge, deburred, or width-milled to tight tolerance on request Processing options before shipment:

1 - Straightened and flattened strip for saw-back production lines.

Why the base grade matters for tool strip:

After quenching at 1200–1240°C and triple tempering at 550–580°C, SKH51 tool strip reaches HRC 63–65 with the fine vanadium carbides that hold a cutting edge far longer than plain carbon tool steels.

Consistent chemistry per heat (C 0.80–0.90 / Cr 3.80–4.40 / Mo 4.50–5.50 / W 5.50–6.75 / V 1.75–2.20) means your heat treatment recipe never needs re-tuning between shipments.

Typical conversions from our strip:

- Band saw tooth-back strip: 2–6mm thick

- Circular saw segment blanks: 8–25mm thick

- Slitting and paper cutting knives: 3–12mm thick

- Stack-cutting blade sets: ground both faces, ready for sharpening Quality assurance: ultrasonic testing above 50mm sections, heat-number traceability on every bundle tag, mill certificate per shipment, and optional SGS/BV third-party inspection.
