D2 flat steel is a rectangular section long steel bar made of AISI D2 (corresponding to DIN 1.2379, JIS SKD11, and Chinese GB Cr12Mo1V1) high-carbon, high-chromium cold work tool steel.

It is a commonly used profile in the mold and precision cutting tool industry.

Core Standards and Chemical Composition 1 - Standards: ASTM A681, QQ-T-570; corresponding to European W-Nr 1.2379 and Japanese SKD11; 2 - Typical Composition (%): C 1.45~1.60, Cr 11.00~13.00, Mo 0.70~1.20, V 0.50~1.10, Si≤0.60, Mn≤0.60, P/S≤0.03; High carbon and high chromium form dense carbides, which is the source of its **high wear resistance**.

Physical and Mechanical Properties 1 - Annealed State: Hardness approximately 248~255 HBW, easy to machine D2 flat steel; 2 - After Quenching and Tempering: Hardness 58~62 HRC, tensile strength ≥2000 MPa; 3 - Characteristics: Air-hardenable (deep hardening), minimal deformation after heat treatment; possesses certain corrosion resistance (often referred to as semi-stainless steel); Typical Applications - Cold stamping dies, punches, dies, shearing blades, precision cutting tools; - Thread rolling wheels, wire drawing dies, cold heading dies; - Gauges, wear-resistant inserts, woodworking tools, and other components requiring high wear resistance and dimensional stability.
