EN 42CrMo4 material has become the core material of heavy equipment such as wind turbine main shafts and oil drilling tools with its 1100-1300MPa tensile strength and excellent hardenability.

Its innovative differential temperature heating and intelligent quenching process control the hardness difference of 100mm section to ±2HRC.

Chemical composition and metallurgical control

EN 42CrMo4 material adopts precise alloy ratio: carbon content of 0.38%~0.45% provides matrix strengthening, chromium of 0.90%~1.20% enhances hardenability, molybdenum of 0.15%~0.30% inhibits temper brittleness, and key trace elements silicon (0.17%~0.37%) and manganese (0.50%~0.80%) synergistically optimize the deoxidation effect.

Advanced smelting adopts the EAF-LF-VD triple process to control the oxygen content to ≤20ppm, the sulfur and phosphorus contents to less than 0.035% respectively, and the component segregation index is ≤1.08 through electromagnetic stirring.
