EN NF 100Cr6 steel is a martensitic steel whose mechanical properties can be significantly manipulated through a "quenching and tempering" heat treatment.

While the annealed state is soft and easily machined, the quenched and tempered state achieves high strength and hardness.

Specific properties are as follows:

Performance Index: Annealed (Delivered State) Quenched and Tempered (Typical Process: Quenching at 950-1000°C + Tempering at 600-700°C)

Tensile Strength (σb) ≥490 600-800 MPa (Increases with decreasing tempering temperature)

Yield Strength (σs) ≥345 450-650 MPa

Elongation (δ5) ≥20 12-18% (Decreases with increasing strength)

Reduction of Area (ψ) ≥60 40-55%
