Customized Nf 100c6 Steel Core Chemical Composition Effect - China

The composition of NF 100C6 steel is designed with "chromium-enhanced corrosion resistance" at its core.

Its nickel-free nature makes it less expensive than austenitic stainless steels like 304 - The specific compositional effects are as follows: Carbon (C) ≤0.15%: Controls hardness and strength: Low carbon content provides excellent toughness, while heat treatment can increase hardness near the upper limit.

Chromium (Cr) 12.0%-14.0%: Core corrosion-resistant element: Forms a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide film on the surface of NF 100C6 steel, protecting it from atmospheric, freshwater, and mildly corrosive media.

Silicon (Si) ≤1.0%: Deoxidizer, improves NF 100C6 steel's smelting fluidity and slightly increases its strength.

Manganese (Mn) ≤1.0%: Improves NF 100C6 steel's toughness and cold working properties, while preventing brittleness.

Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.040%: A harmful impurity that requires strict control (excessive levels can cause cold brittleness in the steel).

Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.030%: A harmful impurity that requires strict control (excessive levels can cause hot brittleness in the steel).

Nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.6%: (Usually lower) This is an optional addition.

A small amount of nickel can improve toughness, but is not essential (unlike the high nickel content of 304 stainless steel).
