DIN 1.2436 Mold Steel Heat Treatment

Annealing: Typically performed at 800°C–850°C, followed by slow cooling.

The objective is to reduce hardness to facilitate subsequent machining of the DIN 1.2436 mold steel; after annealing, the hardness can be reduced to approximately 235 HB.

Quenching Processes:

Single-Hardening Method: Quenching temperature of 1020°C–1040°C, combined with low-temperature tempering at 160°C–180°C.

This method achieves a hardness of over 60 HRC and is suitable for high-wear-resistance molds.

Double-Hardening Method: Quenching temperature of 1080°C–1120°C, combined with multiple high-temperature tempering cycles.

This method achieves a hardness of 59–64 HRC and is suitable for parts requiring high "red hardness" (retention of hardness at elevated temperatures), though it results in lower toughness.

Medium-Temperature Quenching: Quenching at approximately 1050°C followed by high-temperature tempering at 500°C–520°C.

This method strikes a balance between strength and toughness, ensuring that the DIN 1.2436 mold steel is less prone to cracking during subsequent processing.
