G51200 steel is a high-carbon chromium bearing steel, corresponding to AISI 52100 in the American Standard.

It is widely used in the manufacture of high-strength, high-wear-resistant rolling bearing components.

Due to its excellent fatigue strength, hardness, and dimensional stability, it is increasingly used in wind turbine equipment, particularly in critical transmission components and high-load-bearing parts.

Typical Applications of G51200 Steel in Wind Turbine Equipment

1 - Wind Turbine Main Shaft Bearing Rollers and Raceways

Wind turbine main bearings withstand combined radial and axial forces and must exhibit high fatigue life and extremely low spalling rates.

After rigorous heat treatment (such as quenching and tempering), G51200 steel achieves a hardness of 60-66 HRC, effectively improving the fatigue resistance of rollers and raceways in main bearings.

2 - Bearing Parts in Speed Gearboxes

The speed gearbox in a wind turbine boosts the low-speed main shaft to the speed required by the high-speed generator, placing extremely high demands on the life of the internal gear bearings.

Needle roller bearings and ball bearing rings manufactured using G51200 offer longer service life and more stable dimensional control.

3 - Bearing components in yaw and pitch systems

G51200 steel can be used to manufacture precision turntable bearings, deep groove ball bearings, and other components, offering strong resistance to fretting wear and smooth operation.
