High Hardenability 20crnimo Steel Excellent Properties - China

20CrNiMo steel was originally steel grade 8620 in the American AISI and SAE standards.

Its hardenability is similar to 20CrNi steel.

Although the Ni content is half that of 20CrNi steel, the addition of a small amount of Mo shifts the upper part of the austenite isothermal transformation curve to the right; and the appropriately increased Mn content results in excellent hardenability and higher strength than 20CrNi steel.

It is commonly used in the manufacture of gears in the engines and transmission systems of small and medium-sized automobiles and tractors; it can also replace 12CrNi3 steel in the manufacture of carburized and cyanided parts requiring high core performance, such as the jaws and cone bodies of roller cone drill bits used in oil drilling and metallurgical open-pit mines.

Because it contains molybdenum, 20CrNiMo steel not only has excellent overall performance but also withstands certain temperatures.

It is used in the manufacture of gears, rotors, connecting rods, and valve section forgings for steam turbines and internal combustion engines.
