X153CrMoV12 die steel inspection process (standardized steps) 1 - Preparation

Surface treatment: Grind to Ra ≤ 6.3 μm, remove oxide scale, oil, and rust.

Equipment calibration: Check the horizontal/vertical linearity, sensitivity, and probe delay of the flaw detector.

Test block: Compare test blocks of the same material and heat treatment state as X153CrMoV12 die steel.

2 - Implementation (Ultimately UT)

Coupled: Use machine oil, glycerin, and a special coupling agent to ensure no air gaps.

Scanning: Record the location, depth, and amplitude of suspicious echoes according to the specified direction and speed.

Defect location: Mark the coordinates using the horizontal or depth positioning method.

3 - Defect assessment

Defect types: Planar (cracks, white spots), volumetric (inclusions, porosity)

Equivalent assessment: Compare with the DAC/AVG curve to give the equivalent of a flat-bottomed hole in Φx mm.

Acceptance level:

General molds: ≤ Φ2 mm single defect, no dense defects.

Precision/long-life molds: ≤ Φ1.5 mm.

Key areas: zero cracks, zero white spots.

4 - Report

Includes: standards, equipment, probe, sensitivity, scanning method, defect record, assessment conclusion, pass/fail determination.
