GB Cr2 steel is a type of tool steel containing chromium.

The Chinese GB standard code is Cr2, and the corresponding international designations include Japanese SUJ2, American L3, German 105Cr6, etc.

It has high hardenability, hardness and wear resistance, and good dimensional stability after heat treatment.

It is suitable for manufacturing measuring tools, cold working dies and cutting tools and other industrial fields.

The chemical composition of GB Cr2 steel contains chromium, with a density of 7.83t/m³, a critical temperature Ac1 of 745°C, and a Ms phase transition temperature range of 140-180°C.

Hot working requires controlling the lower limit of the termination temperature and rapid cooling to reduce the tendency of decarburization.

The heat treatment process includes annealing (770-790°C), quenching (830-860°C oil cooling, hardness ≥62HRC) and tempering (160-250°C), which can control the material properties.

It is mainly used for workpieces such as gauges, cold stamping dies, low-speed turning tools and cold rolling rollers.

It is also used in the manufacture of bearing industry molds and plastic molds.
